Spring Finals!
The Spring 1- Touch season ended on Monday night with all the usual mix of close games, high spirits and lots of tension.
The weather certainly did not play its part completely and the early rain was looking threatening, thankfully it blew away and we were able to enjoy all the touch action with no more interuptions.

Now onto the results of the evening.

In Div. 7, Die Wonderhase won their final and the gold in their first ever season! They beat Fly Hoffs (also in their first season) in the final. The Phillipi Phillies picked up the bronze.

The Div. 6 was contested by the perennial rivals the Chav's and Heltronic. Heltronic won this encounter and walked away with the gold medal. Can't touch this won bronze.

Div. 5 saw the Junior Boks pick up the win in the league as they beat the Lazers in the final. Skalaar beat Team Orange to win bronze.

Incredibles continued their winning streak this year with another gold medal win in the Div 4 final. This time they beat the enthusiastic Underdogs. ACT Sanlam got the bronze beating the Wacky Weaners in the playoff.

Div. 3 belonged to Mangina, they beat Team Baklek to capture their first gold medal. Stryker did enough to see off the Bachelors for the bronze medal.

Div. 2 saw a win for the boys from Piketberg. They beat Team Saffer to grab the gold medal. Brackenfell Motors did the business over Die Urke to seal their bronze.

Div. 1 was won by the Troopers. They played some brilliant Touch to see off the challenge of the Kwagga's and take home the gold medal. Well done to Keelan and his team.

The Super League final was a classic contest between the Barloworld Warriors and Merlin. This tight encounter was settled in a dramatic drop off. With both teams down to just three players each, Jaco Visser managed to grab the decisive score and give the Warriors the title! Third place belonged to Team HCQ Nomads.

The Winter season ended last night on a rather chilly note but the Touch was a welcome warmer.
All the divisions were closely contested and teams really had to be at their best to capture all the glory.

Div. 2 winners were the aptly named Incredibles who won their final against C2M. The Ou Manne got the bronze after beating PWC. Well done to the 'toppies'!

Div. 1 was a close affair, but Little Devils just had enough to deny Team Saffer and walk away with gold. Titans were the bronze winners in the division.

The Super League finals provided its fair share of controversy but in the end The Warriors proved supreme with a 3-2 win over the Merlin Troopers. The Vikings took bronze with a crushing 12- 2 defeat of Buccaneers.

  • NO TOUCH
The current water shortage crisis is affecting individuals and businesses alike. The condition of the majority of sports fields across the Western Cape is indicative of the situation and many grounds men are talking about experiencing the worst conditions in over 20 years.

The situation at the NTK club is no different and whilst the club has been unbelievably understanding, the circumstances have become desperate.

Many of you will have noticed that due to the public holidays on the 21st and 28th of March (Human Rights Day and Easter Monday) no touch was scheduled. In discussion with NTK, we have decided to give an extra weeks break to allow the field a little more time to recover. So as from today, no touch will take place for 3 weeks. The next games will take place on Monday the 4th of April as scheduled.

    NO TOUCH
    Monday 14 / Wednesday 16 March
    Monday 21 / Wednesday 23 March
    Monday 28 / Wednesday 30 March

We will be in touch with all of you via email and telephone in the next few weeks to keep you updated on how the missed fixture will be caught up. Once again we appologise for any inconveniences that may be caused.

On another issue, please remember that you have until 5pm today to complete your player registration on the website www.touchrugby.co.za Failure to do this will result in your team forfeiting 3 bonus points, which could be the difference in the race for qualification in the play-offs.

Thank you once again for your understanding. We take this opportunity of wishing you and all your families (a little early we know) a Happy and Safe Easter.
Temporary Venue Change – Monday 14 February 2005
Over the last 5 years in Cape Town we have always strived to provide you with the ultimate Touch Experience. Unfortunately we are currently falling short of this high standard.

When negotiating with Northlink College for the use of the Tygerberg Campus, various aspects were taken for granted such as condition of the fields and standards of the lights. Unfortunately due to factors beyond either parties control this has not been the case. Whilst the Northern part of the ground is in a playable condition, the Southern part nearest Rothchild blvd. is practically bear of all grass.

There is still a hope that if the facility is given the necessary time and maintenance (as well as much needed water) we will be able to use it in the future.

Knowing our predicament, the College has gone out of its way to negotiate the use of the facilities at the NTK Rugby Club as from next week, Monday 21st February. NTK was the home for Touch in the Northern Suburbs for 2 years and it offers an ideal replacement at this time.

Unfortunately the drought has also badly hurt the fields at the club and strict controlling of the use of any metal (6 or 8 stud) boots will be enforced. We will also be rotating the fields on a regular basis so we urge you to get to the club early to avoid any delays in games as we wont know which field we are playing on until game time.

We sincerely apologise for this inconvenience and hope that you can understand the predicament we have been in.
Touch hits new highs in Cape Town
The Summer Season kicked off on Monday at a new venue with high expectations and big plans for 2005. The demand for Touch in the Northern Suburbs has hit an all time high and we are in the enviable position of reaching a capacity for the amount of players that can be accommodated.

In measures taken to counter this dilemma, we have decided to introduce a second night of Touch.

Games will now be played on Monday and Wednesday nights.

We understand that this may inconvenience some of you, however over time we will have more flexibility in terms of catching up games in the event of postponements, and also allow for a wide range of people that have previously never been able to play.

We urge you to explain this to your teams and understand the long-term benefits of this change. When the fixture list is generated, it is possible that many of you will not even have to play on Wednesday nights. Fixture lists will be generated by next week and personal schedules will be able to be planned.

Should you or your team be in a position whereby you cannot under any circumstance play games on a Wednesday evening, please notify the office and we will try to accommodate you as best as possible.

Please also note that for security purposes at the venue, all teams must furnish a list of their players. This must be done on the orange indemnity form which was handed to your captain on Monday Night. From Monday the 14th of February a disk will be given to each player enabling easy access. No disks will be allocated unless Team lists are thoroughly filled in.

    Thank you for you Co-operation
